The Washburn Ichabods will continue their five-game home stand to open the season as they will play host to the Saint Mary Spires from Leavenworth, Kan. The Spires are 5-1 this season coming off a 79-60 win over Haskell on Tuesday. The Ichabods opened the season with a 71-41 win over Peru State.

The Lady Blues volleyball team will play in their sixth straight NCAA tournament as the No. 2 seed in the South Central Region and will play seventh-seeded Nebraska-Omaha (20-13) Thursday at a time to be determined in the first round of the South Central Region tournament, hosted by Central Missouri.

The Lady Blues open the regular season next Saturday against Southwestern (Kan.) College at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The eighth-ranked Washburn Lady Blues dropped the first set, but rattled off three straight set wins en route to a 3-1 (20-25, 25-9, 25-22, 25-14) victory over No. 9 Emporia State in front of a season-high 1,564 fans on Senior night in Lee Arena. The Lady Blues next match will be in the NCAA South Central Regional next week.

The Washburn Ichabods will open the 2009-10 season with Peru State on Monday, Nov. 16 in Lee Arena at 7 p.m. The Ichabods are coming off their lone exhibition game against UNLV in which the Ichabods led by as many as seven in the second half before falling 62-52. Peru State enters the game with a 2-4 record and will have games against Morningside College on Nov. 14 before facing the Ichabods.
