WICHITA, Kan. -- Washburn Lady Blues softball coach Lisa Carey will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Wichita, Kan. in ceremonies on Oct. 3. Carey recently finished her eighth season at Washburn.
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Lady Blues season came to an end with a 24-26 record after back-to-back losses in the first day of the MIAA Softball Championship Tournament at the Blue Valley Sports Complex in Overland Park, Kan. The Lady Blues fell to No. 17 Emporia State 8-0 before falling in an elimination game to Central Missouri 4-1.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues fell in a single game with No. 23-ranked Nebraska-Omaha 7-2 at the Washburn Softball Complex in the regular season finale on Sunday. The win was the 25th in a row for the Mavericks, who clinched at least a share of the MIAA crown with the win. The Lady Blues (24-24,8-12 MIAA) will now have to wait until other games are completed in the MIAA to discover their postseason future.
