TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn Athletics Director Loren Ferré has announced Jill McCartney has been hired as Washburn's Assistant Athletics Director and senior women's administrator overseeing the athletic department's compliance program. McCartney comes to Washburn from Metro State in Denver where she served Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services since November 2007.

Washburn's Dani White and Tish Williams each earned second team NFCA Division II South Central Region honors as voted on by the coaches from the MIAA, Lone Star and Heartland Conferences.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn senior first basemen Dani White was named first team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District as voted on by the region's sports information directors. She will now advance to the national ballot. White is the first Lady Blue to receive first team honors since Torrie Beauchamp did following the 1999 season.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Wasburn Lady Blues had their season come to a close with two losses at the MIAA softball tournament on Friday night. Sixth-seeded Washburn fell to No. 3 seed Emporia State 9-0 in five innings in the opener and was eliminated by No. 7 seed Missouri Southern 5-3.
