TOPEKA, Kan. -- Ichabod head basketball coach Bob Chipman has announced Pierre DeClue, a 5-10 guard from Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley has signed to play for Washburn this fall. DeClue became just the second player in NJCAA Division II history to earn first team All-American honors in back to back seasons.
"He is a proven winner," Chipman said. "He recorded 58 wins in two seasons at Penn Valley and he gave up his own scoring talents to make each one of his teammates better."
DeClue, a Kansas City, Mo., native who played his prep ball at Kansas City Northeast High School, averaged 11.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists in leading the Scouts to the Region 16 Championship. He was named the Region 16 Player of the Year as a freshman and sophomore and earned first team all-American honors from the NABC each season at Penn Valley as well. In the national tournament, he averaged 18 points a game leading the Scouts to the District 10 title game. As a freshman, he averaged 14.8 points per game.
DeClue joins Mitch Allen from Sabetha, Kan. along with Bobby Chipman and Bryce Simons, both of Topeka and Jordan Lambkins of Labette County who signed earlier in the spring.
