INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The No. 10 ranked Washburn Lady Blues received the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament in brackets which were announced Sunday evening. The Lady Blues will take on No. 7 seeded Central Missouri on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in a rematch of the MIAA Tournament championship game.
Washburn (26-3), who advanced to the second round last season in Canyon, Texas, returns for the third straight season as the No. 2 seed.
West Texas A&M earned the automatic bid as Lone Star Conference Champion and is the No. 1 seed. They will face No. 8 seed-St. Mary's (Texas) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12. The rest of the bracket finds No. 2-Washburn facing No. 7-Central Missouri at 2:30, No. 3-Northeastern State facing No. 6-Central Oklahoma at 12 p.m. and No. 4-Emporia State playing No. 5-Tarleton State at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The winner of the eight team region advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in St. Joseph, Mo. which will be hosted by Missouri Western March 24, 25 and 27.
