Lady Blues put four on on all-MIAA softball team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues had four players named to the All-MIAA honorable mention squad which was announced today prior to the start of the MIAA Championship tournament in Kansas City.

Senior pitcher Kayla Long and senior third baseman Tish Williams along with junior catcher Jacque Horejsi and sophomore outfielder Lindsey Himpel# all-received honorable mention honors as voted on by the MIAA's coaches.

Long enters the tournament 10th in the MIAA in ERA with a 3.04 average going 11-16 this season in 156 and 1/3 innings pitched. She is fifth in the MIAA rankings in innings pitched and fourth in games started with 25 and complete games with 19.

Horejsi currently has a .293 batting averaged starting 40 of 44 games recording 39 hits with eight doubles, 15 runs scored and three home runs while driving in 26.

Williams leads the Lady Blues and is second in the MIAA in home runs with 12. She is also seventh in the MIAA in runs scored with .88 per contest and second in walks per game with .88 per game walking a total of 42 times this season. She leads the MIAA in on base percentage with a .520 tally and her .701 slugging percentage is fourth in conference play. She leads Washburn with her 42 runs scored while walking a school single-season record 42 times.

Himpel is batting .331 entering postseason play and has recorded a team-high 54 hits with three triples, eight doubles and two home runs along with 22 RBI and 31 runs scored.
