TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn Associate Director of Athletics Kerry Dickerson has resigned from his position at Washburn to lead the Panther Scholarship Club at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

"This was a hard decision to make, but one myself and my family is looking forward too," Dickerson said. "I have so many great memories of Washburn in my time here and I have made many friends here. I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in  my life and I'm excited to get started at Northern Iowa."

In his role at Washburn he helped lead the redesign and development of the Whiting Fieldhouse renovation completing a $7 million face-lift with the addition of the Capitol Federal Savings Student Athlete Strength and Conditioning Center as well as upgrades to Falley Field with the field turf infield, bullpen and outfield fence project. A native of Blue Springs, Mo., Dickerson was a two-year starter for the Ichabods at point guard and played on the team from 1988 to 1993. He started 38 of 116 games for Washburn and his team leadership on two MIAA championship and NCAA Division II tournament teams

"Kerry has done a great job for Washburn Athletics," Director of Athletics Loren Ferré said. "There is no question he will be hard to replace. I will miss Kerry as a colleague and a friend. We wish him all the best in his new job."
