INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Despite falling one spot from a season ago, the Washburn University women's basketball remained in the top 10 according to the NCAA Division II's national attendance rankings for the 2016-17 season, announced Tuesday Aug. 8 by the national organization.

The Ichabods, which checked in at sixth-overall, averaged 1,468 fans during their 18 home games from 2016-17 for a season total of 26,432 spectators at Lee Arena.

Joining Washburn from the MIAA was Fort Hays State at second, Emporia State at fourth, while Pittsburg State and Nebraska-Kearney claimed seventh and ninth respectively. Regional member Northern State topped the list, while Augustana (S.D.) came in at No. 3.

By conference, the MIAA topped the list with 225,590 total fans (1,095 average). Regional partners Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) followed at No. 2 while the Great American Conference (GAC) was placed at No. 5.

The Ichabods finished last season 17-12 overall and appeared in their 17
th consecutive MIAA Tournament under the direction of head coach
Ron McHenry. Seniors
Alyxis Bowens and
Erika Lane each earned All-MIAA honors while a total of 17 players earned academic accolades from the conference.
